What Are the Vegan Options at Buffalo Wild Wings? (Updated Guide)

Vegan Options at Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings, an America-based casual dining restaurant, is known for its specialization in sauces and Buffalo wings. It further operates as a sports bar franchise in several countries, including India, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, and more. This restaurant can quickly satisfy the cravings of non-vegetarians. But you can’t trust this place blindly when it comes to vegan options at Buffalo Wild Wings.

Buffalo Wild Wings is not a vegan restaurant. But realizing the increasing number of vegans, they have revised their menu and made it more suitable for vegans. It includes carrot sticks, avocados, mandarin oranges, salsa, desert heat seasonings, and other sauces.

So, if you are looking for delicious vegan options at Buffalo Wild Wings, then you can try these flavorful dishes:

Big Twist Pretzel (Without Cheese)

Pretzel is the first good vegan option at Buffalo Wild Wings. The soft pretzels are a great starchy option for you that is also relatively low in calories. Pretzel knots have recently acquired a position on the menu. They are not entirely vegan and include honey, mustard, and cheese substances.

Side Salads (No Croutons or Cheese)

The side salad is another tasty and healthy vegan option on the Buffalo Wild Wings menu. It is an excellent choice for those who don’t want to consume a large number of calories. But to make it completely vegan, you must order the side salad without cheese, butter, and croutons. It is one of the healthiest vegan options available to customers.

When it comes to dressing, you have to take extra precautions. The Caesar dressing on the salad contains anchovy, a non-vegan ingredient. It is better to look for alternatives such as balsamic vinegar and vinaigrette.

If you don’t want such issues, then you can put avocado on your salad to give the dish a good taste and texture. It will also provide you with healthy fat and eliminate the need to have any dressing type.

Carrot Sticks and Celery Sticks

If you are looking for a simple and healthy vegan food item, then the Buffalo Wild Wings menu can accomplish this desire. You can go for carrot sticks, celery sticks, or a combination of both. You have to remember one thing before ordering these sticks. They usually come with ranch dressing, which contains milk. Hence, you have to order them without ranch dressing.

Veggie Sandwich/Custom Wrap

Burgers and sandwiches on the Buffalo Wild Wings menu are also perfect for vegans. The hamburger buns offered at BWW are vegan, per the allergen menu. It is not the end. The flour tortillas or custom wraps are vegan on the restaurant’s menu. However, the ingredients of this dish may vary according to locations and demands in that area.

If you go in another direction, there are chances to find other exciting vegan options. It is suggested to put together a soft-shell taco, custom vegan wrap, or similar dishes to get the best vegan combo.

You can initially begin with a simple flour tortilla or hamburger bun and add some vegan toppings. You can add a topping from the following choices:

  • Pico de gallo
  • Ketchup of different flavors
  • Avocado and lettuce
  • Yellow mustard
  • Jalapeno peppers

The sauteed white onions are also available, which are also suitable for vegans. This is because white onions are not sauteed in beef shortening and, therefore, do not include any animal product.

White Rice

White rice is another vegan option at Buffalo Wild Wings. Some restaurants include plain white rice in their menus and provide an alternative to vegans who want to satisfy their appetites. To enhance the taste, you can also try a few vegan sauces on the rice and make it more favorable for the taste buds.

Vegan Sauces and Seasonings

You will be surprised to know that most of the sauces and seasonings at Buffalo Wild Wings are vegan. The vast range of sauces allows you to get the best taste with every single bite. You can use them as a taste enhancer to your simple white rice or as a dipping for carrot sticks, celery sticks, and soft pretzels.

Here are some vegan sauces that you can prefer:

  • Jammin jalapeno wing sauce
  • Hot sauce
  • Caribbean jerk sauce
  • Sweet BBQ
  • Chipotle BBQ seasoning
  • Mango habanero sauce
  • Asian zing sauce

Beverages

Having a drink or beverage is almost necessary with dishes like hamburgers and sandwiches. BWW offers various vegan drinks that you enjoy with food items. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available to vegans.

Non-Alcoholic Drinks

  • Cold drinks such as Pepsi and Mountain Dew
  • Ice Tea
  • Hot and cold coffee
  • Lemonade
  • Passion-fruit mojito

Alcoholic Beverages

  • A vast range of cocktails
  • Beer and wine

Almost all the beverages are vegan, except a few wines. This is because they contain non-vegan fining components, such as isinglass, that are found in fish.

Slaw and Mandarin Oranges

Slaw/coleslaw is another good vegan option at Buffalo Wild Wings. The allergen menu of the BWW gives assurance that it is vegan, but you must confirm it once before ordering it.

Mandarin oranges, mini-oranges, or clementines, are a decent choice on the vegan list. They are usually smaller, and you can easily peel them before eating. The presence of oranges in the BWW restaurant is an excellent treat for vegans.

More Options at Buffalo Wild Wings

Whole-Food Plant-Based

It is better to focus on a few more vegan options to have the best experience at Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant. The whole-food plant-based alternatives are better than other vegan items. This is because most vegan dishes are fried and contain many calories. Thus, it can be a healthy option for all those unhealthy vegan dishes.

Whole food plant-based menu:

  • Veggie toppings such as avocado, pico de gallo, tomatoes, and slaw
  • Carrots and celery boat
  • Side salads without butter and croutons

These vegan options are great when compared to other restaurants. But you will be upset to know that these choices are not available for processed grains. For this, you have only white rice (Hawaii only) and a soft twist pretzel.

Beer-Braised Mushrooms

You can try beer-braised mushrooms. However, they are not vegan at all places. Only at a few locations, this dish is vegan. This leads to confusion in the consumers’ minds because it is quite challenging to decide whether this specific dish is vegan.

What Happened Between PETA and Buffalo Wild Wings?

In October 2016, Buffalo Wild Wings came to the news due to the chicken head incident. This bizarre incident happened with a Green Bay Packers player Jared Cook. The athlete argued that a deep fried-chicken head was present in his wings order at one of the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants.

He also pointed out that the neck, tongue, and beak were visible. He posted the pic of the chicken head publicly on Twitter. When this matter started damaging the company’s reputation, they said they were looking into the issue. But PETA took it seriously and recorded the statement of the player.

PETA sent meatless wings to the player and urged him to remove meat from his plate. He also adopted a vegetarian diet after this incident. However, no strict action was taken by PETA against Buffalo Wild Wings, but it affected the restaurant’s image.

Wrap Up

Buffalo Wild Wings is not the ideal place for vegan customers. However, the available vegan choices are genuine and don’t compromise quality.
