What Is Zoup?

As mentioned before, Zoup started as a soup company way back in 1997. Founder Eric Ersher realized the need for a good soup restaurant in his neighborhood. After all, there is no food like soup that satisfies your soul.

Thus, the founders set out with one goal in mind- to serve the fantastic soup with creme de la creme ingredients. All their recipes were also hundred percent authentic and their own.

And thus, Zoup! Fresh Soup Company was born in Southfield, MI, in the year 1997. The food joint served twelve different kinds of soups with big chunks of bread. And to the founders’ delight, they weren’t wrong! The restaurant soon became a hit.

Not long after, Zoup started offering more diverse food items on its menu. Fresh cakes, ciabatta bread, comforting sandwiches, healthy greens, and salads – all became a part of the Zoup menu. Of course, authentic soups are also served.

In 2003, Zoup’s first franchise location in Ann Arbor, Michigan, opened. Slowly but steadily, the franchise grew with its beautiful cultural foundation and support team.

Vegan Soups at Zoup

Let’s start with their best-selling soups. There are multiple vegan soup options available at restaurants to fill your tummy and satisfy your soul.

The restaurant is quite discreet about the ingredients they use to make their food. Thus, it is always wise to be careful and check the nutrition section of each dish. You can access it in your local Zoup eatery itself or even online on the official website.

We have listed all the soup options below.

Frontier 7 Bean

It is a wonderful soup option to try at Zoup. Frontier 7 Bean is gluten-free, dairy-free, and of course, vegan. The restaurant offers seven assorted beans (kidney, navy, black beans, pinto, garbanzo with peas, and lentils).

You also get onions, tomatoes, garlic, and a dash of their tasty Worcestershire sauce with the dish. We would recommend this delectable soup!

Farmstead Classic Tomato

Farmstead Classic Tomato, as the name suggests, is a classic tangy delight. The soup includes tomato, garlic, spices, and olive oil with mirepoix (celery, carrots, and onions). To all the tomato soup lovers, this one’s for you. The dish is a hundred percent vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free.

Coachili

When you ask the waiter for a Coachili soup, you get a mix of stewed tomatoes, black beans and kidney, lentils, jalapeños, bell peppers, and rich spices. Coachili is spicy and tangy. It is also completely dairy-free, vegan, and made with gluten-free ingredients.

There are specific other soup options you might find in your local group. The soups at Zoup vary from day to day and also from location to location. As you already know, Zoup has more than 100 soups served at their different locations. The above three are a standard in their menu.

Vegan Bread

Zoup’s bread is the perfect companion to their soups. They add the much-needed crunchiness to the meal. Usually, the eatery doesn’t add an egg to their bread. Thus, they are vegan-friendly. However, multigrain bread contains honey and should be avoided.

It is always better to check in with the staff to confirm that the bread is vegan-compatible. We’d personally recommend French bread; it is delicious. Here are a few of the bead options:

  • French Bread
  • Focaccia Bread
  • Stone-Baked Ciabatta Bread
  • Olive Oil & Sea Salt Bread Boule

Vegan Bowls

You can never go wrong with a broth bowl. A bowl is a wholesome, healthy meal offered at Zoup. For vegans, there is only one vegan broth bowl available. It is the Lemon Roasted Vegetable bowl.

Lemon Roasted Vegetable Bowl

The Lemon Roasted Vegetable contains a savory vegan broth with ancient grains, roasted chickpeas, fiery broccoli, lively greens, roasted mushrooms, lemon vinaigrette, and pickled carrots. This broth is fulfilling and healthy. It is highly fibrous too.

Vegan Sandwiches

Unfortunately, you don’t get any vegan sandwiches at Zoup. But we have some advice for you if you are craving a sandwich. You can ask the server to remove cheese or any other dairy products from the available vegetarian sandwiches.

One such sandwich is Medi Veggie. It is a lively green, cucumber, tomato, hummus, feta and tzatziki sauce, and focaccia bread. You can ask them to remove the cheese and ask if they have vegan tzatziki sauce and hummus. If not, you can request to remove these too.

Vegan Salads

Well, similar to the case with sandwiches, Zoup doesn’t offer any vegan sandwiches. But you can apply the same sandwich trick here. There are quite some yummy vegetarian sandwiches at Zoup. You can ask them to remove the non-vegan components to customize your dish to be vegan.

The Cranberry Almond Sonoma salad contains cranberries, raspberry vinaigrette, and almonds. You can ask the server to leave out the gorgonzola to veganize the salad.

You can apply the same trick with the other vegetarian options on the menu: Garden Veggie salad and Roasted Chickpea & Hummus salad, and leave out the non-vegan components.
